The Kübler Group goes on growing! NEW - Kübler Austria

The Kübler Group continues to focus on worldwide presence and sets up an own subsidiary in Austria. Customer proximity and flexibility are key factors for world-wide success. Relying on this principle, Kübler is present in Austria since January 1st, 2016.

This reason for this decision is the significant market potential of innovative companies of the mechanical engineering sector and the core industries (logistics, steel and aluminum), wind energy and mobile automation. Kübler has been for many years a strong partner in these sectors and offers perfectly suitable products and solutions for this purpose.

The absence of any language barrier is a huge advantage for the Kübler Group and for the Austrian customers. Customer proximity, technical support and application advice will surely be much easier than in countries speaking other languages.

The whole products portfolio including position and motion sensors, functional safety, transmission technology and counting and process technology will be offered on the Austrian market. In the area of functional safety, Kübler is a specialist for safe positioning and speed monitoring. The Company is offering since 2009 encoders certified from SIL2/PLd up to SIL3/PLe. This requires an expert, and Kübler found this expert. Mister Michael Weingrill will represent Kübler Austria with the position of a Sales Manager. He has longstanding experience in the area of safe automation technology, and he knows what is important. He will use all his knowledge to advise and support his customers.

Kübler draws a positive balance of its 2015 business performance to date

As of August, the Kübler Group based in Villingen-Schwenningen is registering a 9% growth in its business fields Position and Motion Sensors, Transmission Technology, Functional Safety and Counting and Process Technology. The two Managing Directors Gebhard F. Kübler and Lothar W. Kübler made this announcement in their annual press conference on September 15, 2015. The investments in property, plant, equipment and future projects, including technological investments, increased again in 2015. The company group is looking to achieve a consolidated turnover exceeding 60 million Euros. This means that the turnover has been almost doubled in 5 years. Currently, Kübler is recording for the third quarter a slight slowdown in orders intakes compared with the first half-year. This is due, among others, to the rather weak Chinese economy.

For 2016/2017, Kübler is focusing on innovations, customer projects and new services intended for bringing about a two-figure growth. Kübler announces several new products for the SPS fair, among which, in the position and motion sensors area, adsolute encoders with Ethernet IP interface. In transmission technology, Kübler presents a new slip ring generation designed for the transmission of Ethernet signals for machine automation.

The still young business field Safety Technology for Motion is developing very positively both for the components and for the Safety Services. Gebhard Kübler is pleased: "We are increasingly perceived as partners for safe motion". Kübler presents at the SPS fair new Safety modules and shows its considerable application expertise in the crane, packaging and intra logistics areas.

Consistent process organization allows Kübler to announce at the SPS fair in Nuremberg a new service program unique in this branch: "1 million variants manufactured in 24 h". This program started with incremental Sendix encoders for quantities up to 20 pieces. We see a certain customer potential for this added value and, in addition, we strengthen our brand reputation as a particularly flexible supplier.

The Group counts 450 employees worldwide, of which about 330 working at the headquarters.

Worldwide presence pays off! Double celebration for the Kübler Group.

The globally operating family enterprise Kübler has reasons to celebrate. Two European Group members, Kübler Italy and Kübler Poland, are looking back on 10 years of existence. These anniversaries strengthen the will of the Company to go on building up its international presence and developing the existing subsidiaries.

Customer proximity, application support and direct service are important success factors for Kübler. Innovative products and solutions, decades of know-how in many different industries and a particular flexibility in terms of delivery deadlines and customer-specific solutions form the basis of the worldwide success of the Kübler Group.

Kübler Italy
The Italian market in the area of automation and packaging technology is particularly interesting for the Kübler Group. So the decision to be present in Italy in the form of a subsidiary has been taken in 2004. At the beginning, Kübler Italy counted simply a sales engineer. Today, a team of 4 persons ensures perfect advice, application support and service on site in Northern Italy. Central and Southern Italy is covered by long standing partners and distributors. Kübler Italy's customers come from the packaging technology, logistics, drive technology, steel and mobile automation areas.

Kübler Poland
In order to strengthen the sales activities and establish the Kübler brand, the decision to open a sales office in Poland has been taken in 2005. Thanks to the wide product portfolio, the food processing and steel industries are particularly interesting. The main reasons for our success are the high quality of our products, the flexibility and the service. As in Italy, Poland is covered by a team of 4 persons who meet and convince their customers thanks to personal advice, solid knowledge and high problem-solving expertise.

The Kübler Group belongs to the leading specialists worldwide in the fields of position and motion sensors, functional safety, transmission technology, as well as counting and process technology. Over 450 dedicated employees are working for the success of the whole Group.

SPS: Three successful fair days

Once again, the Kübler stand showed to be the attraction pole at the SPS/IPC/DRIVES fair in Nurnberg.

"It was a good fair." This was Dirk Clemens' short and clear summary. The Sales Manager of the Kübler Group and stand leader is fully satisfied with the three days in Nurnberg. "There have been very interesting discussions, and we had a similar number of visitors as during last year's record fair." A total of about 57,000 visitors flocked at the fair, confirming its reputation as the leading event in the electrical automation branch.

"Sicher ein gutes Gefühl" (It's good to feel safe) – this slogan was displayed on the shining white wall of the Kübler stand and showed at the first glance that the Kübler Group will go on addressing the cross-industry "Safety" issue also in the future. The soundness of this strategy has been confirmed by the many discussions during the fair. There was very great interest especially for the Safety Systems solution packages. No doubt, this aspect becomes more and more relevant, and it will go on gaining importance.

Nevertheless, curious visitors also gathered around the other product panels and had the functionality and advantages of the products explained to them by the Kübler experts. Especially the new incremental encoder Sendix Heavy Duty H120 drew the attention. With this extremely robust encoder, Kübler extended in a decisive way its portfolio for toughest applications in steel works or in cranes.

The particularly cost-effective encoder Sendix F58, the non-contact magnetic measurement system Limes for outdoor use or the factory-preprogrammed inclinometer IS60 were further highlights. Transmission technology, with the slip rings, and process controllers such as the Codix 56X also showed to be attraction poles.

The general appearance of the Company in Nurnberg has been repeatedly praised. Both the clearly arranged presentation of the products, including the apps, and the open structure of the stand, were highly appreciated. # "The pleasant lounge had much success too", said Filippo Zerbo who, being the new Communication Manager at Kübler, organised the stand construction. "Everything has run smoothly" was his happy comment about his successful premiere at the SPS.

Kübler looks ahead

Before the important trade fair SPS in November, Kübler organised a annual press conference 2012 and announced several innovations and new strategies for 2013.

The Kübler Group is one of the family-owned companies that reinforced notably their international market position during the last 10 years. Kübler sees itself as one of the top four companies in position and motion sensors, a branch that counts globally about 20 serious competitors. The new business area "Transmission technology" contributes in the meantime with a two-figure percentage to the global turnover. Slip rings are the main product, with a focus, among others on the packaging branch. The counting and process technology, another pillar, is growing slightly slower.

Today, the group of companies counts seven international subsidiaries, of which two production sites in Germany and one in India, employing a total of 380 persons, of which 260 in the parent company located at the edge of the Black Forest, in Villingen-Schwenningen. The export share represents about 70%. In 2013, Kübler wants to go on developing the group of companies and announces a new national company in Turkey, as well as strategic investments in human resources for Asia.

The Kübler Group managed to nearly triple its turnover in the last the years, to almost 45 million Euros in 2011. Also for 2012 the course is set for growth, however, Kübler feels the economic slowdown and expects only a slight increase of its turnover.

In spit of the expected slowdown in economy, Kübler wants to grow significantly in2013. The managers Gebhard and Lothar Kübler consider that the mix of successful product launches, innovations, increased focus on customer solutions and the development of the international organisation will be decisive to achieve this goal. According to the managers, "This will not be easy, since we are encountering strong headwinds. Therefore, it will be particularly important to show clearer the added value that we offer". This will only be possible in close teamwork.

The business area Position and Motion Sensors is growing

From now on, Kübler will bring together under the umbrella Position and Motion Sensors, besides the standard encoders, all other sensors and related products. This includes the new Sendix Heavy Duty family that Kübler extended for the SPS fair with hollow shaft encoders, as well as new safety-oriented application solutions, for example for crane installations. Kübler furthermore integrates all magnetic linear measuring systems, draw wire systems and inclinometers in this area, and integrated compact drives up to a power class of about 450 watts.

Kübler moreover invests about 40% of the resources in customisations, which can go as far as complete customer-specific products. This high ratio makes Kübler very flexible and quick. To be able to cope even more intensively with the wishes of its customers, Kübler extends its branch management at international level. The company furthermore develops its application engineering in order to support its customers when using technology-intensive products such as field buses, safety, slip rings, etc.

Bernhard Preißler - Manager of the sales office South

He knows the market like the back of his hand – both geographically and commercially. So Bernhard Preißler did not need much time to become fully acquainted with his new field of activity as the manager of the sales office South within the Kübler Group. He has been working for 20 years in the sales of automation technology for various companies in the fields of control and drive technology and sensors.

According to Bernhard Preißler, his decision to join Kübler is based on the fact that the company is managed by its owners, with short and quick decision paths. "And, in addition, the name Kübler stands for quality and innovation."

The 48-year old family father wants to be a "reliable and competent contact partner" for his customers. One thing is important to him: "I want to find the best solution jointly with the customer." This sales expert emphasizes that he enjoys his job. Also the good contact with his colleagues contributes to the great working atmosphere. Our new man for Bavaria and Switzerland is pleased: "I have been very well received in the Kübler team".

Lars Meyer - Manager of the sales office South-East

"No wind will be favourable to him who does not know the harbour he wants to sail to." With this philosophical motto Lars Meyer started his activities within the Kübler Group. It means that everyone has to know his objectives before getting on the way. The manager of the sales office South-East has very clear objectives for his new job. "I want to gain new customers and reactivate our existing customers".

He is supported in this task by a strong team. "Here, all departments work close together, there is a great working atmosphere" emphasizes this married father of a daughter. According to him, this is one of the reasons of the capacity for innovation of the company and the high quality of the products. Another reason: the Kübler Kaizen culture. Lars Meyer was impressed by this constant search for improvements. The roots of this way of thinking and proceeding are Japanese, and Kübler adapted it to its own circumstances. "This consistent acting impressed me right from the beginning" said the 40-year old sales expert.

The man for safety. Jonas Urlaub is the new Product and Branch Manager at Kübler.

"I would like to develop innovative products for the drive technology and go on presenting the Kübler Company as a reliable partner for safe motion and position generation." These were Jonas Urlaub's well-defined objectives as he started working at Fritz Kübler GmbH in Villingen-Schwenningen. This clear and concise formulation also defines his field of activity. He is Branch Manager for drives and Product Manager for the Safety area.

This 31 year old engineer, who studied at the University of Cooperative Education in Karlsruhe, has ample experience in these segments. Before joining the specialist for position and motion sensors and counting and process technology, Jonas Urlaub worked at SEW-Eurodrive, also as a Product Manager.

Originating from Solingen, he already feels perfectly well in the Black Forest, and he looks forward "to the new challenge in an owner-managed medium-sized company." The idea of leading to success a new product range such as the safety technology appealed to him, especially since Kübler is for years at the forefront in this.

And the first impression obviously was right. "Short decision paths, support wherever needed and nice colleagues – what else could you want?" is his satisfied conclusion after his first weeks.

In Search of Experts

Industry Day in Schwenningen finds great resonance

The 12th Industry Day in Schwenningen proved once again to be a highly successful contact forum between businesses and the next academic generation. 50 companies, primarily from the local region, introduced themselves as attractive employers and the 2500 students of the Furtwangen University (HFU) were pleased to embrace what was on offer. They were able to inform themselves about the many proposals open to them on a professional and vocational level.

The Kübler Group also presented a wide range of opportunities and thus the stand was not surprisingly very crowded. "We had many interesting discussions", summed up personnel officer Stephanie Riesle. Together with the production technologists Jürgen Palczynski and Ralf Jetter, she was on hand to talk with and answer the visitors' questions – a knowledge of foreign languages came in very useful here. "Amazingly many of the conversations were in English", reported Stephanie Riesle. Clear evidence of the international appeal of the Villingen-Schwenningen campus, that has progressed to become one of the most important engineering hotbeds in the south-west of Germany for mechanical engineering, medical technology and bio processing technology.

This importance that has spread far and wide beyond the region will continue, as demands for skilled personnel will remain at a high level. "The battle for bright minds started long ago. But with what we can offer the experts of the future, we are well equipped to deal with it" - Stephanie Riesle is certain of this. An assessment that is shared by Dr. Robert Kubon, Mayor of Villingen-Schwenningen. As he paid a flying visit to the Kübler stand, he extended particular praise to the company for their tremendous development in recent years.

Kübler wins Best professional Supplier Award

The Jury recognizes sustainable business model made of innovation & flexibility. The Kübler Group has been distinguished with the "Best Professional Supplier Award 2015" in the category "Technology, Engineering & Service". The jury of experts chose among over 100 companies our family-run company based in the Black Forest. This prize initiated by Deutsche Messe AG, VDW Verein Deutscher Werkzeugmaschinenfabrken (Association of German Machine Tool Factories), Carl Hanser Verlag and Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PWC) is awarded every year to companies that create sustainable customer benefit thanks to a particularly innovative business model. At the awards ceremony, the jury praised the particularly proactive and dynamic Kübler team, which is living a philosophy of continuous improvement and the common "Kübler 2020" vision. Moreover, Kübler is developing more and more from a components supplier to a technology and solutions partner in demanding sectors. This can be seen e.g. in the implementation of customer projects. Fritz Kübler GmbH shows highest flexibility and convinces with short delivery times and the newly launched – 24one delivery guarantee. With this service, the desired encoder is manufactured among over one million of variants and is ready for dispatch the same day.

Our Managing Director Gebhard Kübler, emphasized that "without the high and unremitting dedication of our employees, obtaining this award would not have been possible". This distinction will be an incentive "to develop further consistently our strategy made of innovation and flexibility for the benefit of our customers". Professor Dr.-Ing. Joachim Metternich, deputy head of the Institut für Produktionsmanagement, Technologie und Werkzeugmaschinen (PTW - Institute for Production Management, Technology and Machine Tools), Technical University Darmstadt, comments the competition as follows: "With their products, the distinguished companies are valuable partners and create the conditions for the success of their customers". Gebhard Kübler quoted an example: in the area of multiturn encoders, Kübler is offering a much wider, partly patented technological products range than the market. This allows creating successful application-specific solutions for customers.

Family Day at Fritz Kübler GmbH

650 persons followed Gebhard and Lothar Kübler's invitation.

650 Menschen folgten der Einladung von Gebhard und Lothar Kübler.

The family company of Schwenningen enjoyed sunny prospects last Friday, June 26, 2015. Besides the annual Health Day, this year's celebrations took place with the whole family.
The employees are the main concern of a familyowned Company such as Fritz Kübler GmbH. They are the reason behind the worldwide success and the further development of the Company. As a token of appreciation and recognition, the two managing directors Gebhard and Lothar Kübler invited all of them to the Family Day.
Gebhard Kübler emphasized that, after the first Family Day 10 years ago and the jubilee celebration for the 50th Company anniversary, he was proud to celebrate now the 3rd Family Day.
The Kübler Family day promised an entertaining program for young and old. 650 people, among which 150 children, happily enjoyed the offered activities. Starting with a tour, the families hat the opportunity to have an insight of the Company building, of the workplace of daddy and mommy, of one's husband or wife. The musical accompaniment of the event was provided by Kübler's band "Werk 3", with music that created a great atmosphere and brought even the most reluctant dancers on the dance floor.
Guitar sounds and wonderful voices could be heard all over Kübler's company site: Dos Mundos were playing. The large buffet opened with this music. In the meantime, the German champion "Action Factory" had got ready on stage. The children dancing group, aged from 9 to 11 years, demonstrated their talents. Everyone was fascinated by this dance interlude, and the dancers left the stage under enthusiastic applause. Fritz Kübler GmbH organized various activities for the 650 guests, including 150 children. Among others, the painting workshop, where the children could let their imagination run free. In the Kübler Company, it is a tradition to hang up the paintings in the building and to organize a picture contest. The most beautiful pictures will be selected in the coming weeks, and the "young artists" will receive a present. Both Kübler brothers meant: "We also have children, and we are always pleased of the creative pictures." Late in the evening, a DJ entertained the adults up to the sunset. This day has been a great success for the family Company, with a lot of joy and fun.

“There are 1000 diseases, but only one health”…

Kübler Healthy Day followed by the Summer Festival

Gesundheitstag 2013
Our employees are working. Strength and stamina is needed here.

Gesundheitstag 2013
Occupational Therapy Hour: exercises and the correct body position make the difference.

This quote of the world-famous philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer was the motto of this year’s Safety Day of Fritz Kübler Gmbh in Schwenningen, on July 19. All Kübler staff ended its work on 1.50 PM and had then the opportunity to take advantage of the wide range of health services. From the Stress Pilot, the brainLight armchair, blood sugar level measurement, running analysis, chair massage, first aid using a defibrillator,... up to line dance, rakka, qui gong, nourishing consultations and help to stop smoking, over 30 stations were offering health pulses. Manager Gebhard Kübler was the first to show his pleasure in moving as he danced to the Latin-American rhythms of zumba. Cool drinks offered by the sponsor Bad Dürrheimer, many practical advises of the Schwenningen sickness insurance fund and a great summer weather were the perfect complement of this health experience. Finally, the Kübler Health Quiz and the lotteries of the Schwenningen sickness insurance fund and EasyFitness.de allowed the Kübler staff to win many attractive health prizes.

The Health Day ended with the beginning of the Kübler Summer Festival and the invitation “The buffet is opened!” The Kübler staff ate and drank under large parasols, with many conversations and a pleasant music background, until the highlight of the evening started at 7 PM! Then the dance group of the Mail-Kinderhilfe (www.malikinderhilfe.de) organisation (children’s’ aid association for Mali), with their colourful costumes, swirled for an hour through the large inner courtyard, performing dances with extraordinary acrobatics. This fantastic show did not fill only the attendance with enthusiasm, but also the neighbours, who even thanked the management. Lothar Kübler took up a very special challenge dancing under the bar during the limbo demonstration. The Kübler staff danced to hot rhythms and talked happily until late in the evening. This ended a day for wellbeing for both the body and the mind, full of healthy findings, common experiences and with a participation of Kübler in the social project of the children’s aid for Mali.

Kübler is the best – Top marks for credit-worthiness.

For the second time in succession.

Hoppenstedt Kreditcheck
Kübler is the best –
Top marks for credit-worthiness

Sound business management is one of the pillars of the corporate culture at Kübler. This has been confirmed for the second time now by the Hoppenstedt Kreditinformationen GmbH credit agency. The renowned provider of business information awarded top marks for credit-worthiness to the Fritz Kübler GmbH company. The credit worthiness of 4.4 million German companies was measured on a scale from 1 to 6, where a 1 is the best possible result that a company can achieve.

And this 1 was given to Kübler. "In achieving this 1 rating, Fritz Kübler GmbH warranted this result above all because of its excellent presentation in the area of financial management and its structured business procedures", was the reasoning for this very positive assessment.

This distinction is a proof for the successful overall development of the company, which has turned Kübler into one of the leading manufacturers of position and motion sensors, as well as of counting and process technology products.

Intersolar Fair in Munich - A meeting place for the solar industry

Interview with “Solar energy” Sector Manager Andrea Montanaro

Kübler Messestand Bauma 2013
Andrea Montanaro, “Solar energy” Sector Manager, presents a solution with integrated drive for mirror adjustment.

Why did Kübler decide to take part in the Intersolar 2013?
The Intersolar developed to become one of the most important fairs in the solar energy sector in Europe. The solar sector and especially the “solar heat” branch is one of our core competencies, and it was therefore a matter of course for us to present our position and motion sensors products range at this fair.

Which products does the Kübler Group offer for this sector? Our absolute and incremental Sendix encoders suit perfectly for use in solar plants. These robust and reliable encoders allow outdoor use without any problem, even in the harshest environmental conditions. The solar sector also uses our inclinometers, which allow measuring one or two-dimensional inclinations and provide the measurement through CANopen outputs. Our customer-specific integrated drive solutions are particularly interesting for the user: we designed, in cooperation with selected partners, a special solution package for the solar industry, made up of the sensors, the mechanics and the drive

Was the fair a success and did you achieve your objectives? We had many interesting contacts, especially in the solar heat branch. It was important for us to promote the Kübler brand in this branch and to establish it with the manufacturers of the solar energy sector. Our participation in the Intersolar was an important step in this direction.

Will Kübler take part again in this fair in the future? Our participation in the Intersolar is planned also for the coming years. We will however monitor more closely the economic development of this branch. We could also imagine exhibiting our products range at an international fair in the solar energy sector.

A successful fair - BAUMA 2013

Interview with Markus Brunner, "Mobile Automation"Branch Manager

Markus Brunner
"Mobile Automation" Branch
manager Markus Brunner.

Kübler Messestand Bauma 2013
The worldwide largest fair for construction machinery was one of Kübler's fair highlights in 2013.

What was our motivation to take part in this year's Bauma?
Mobile Automation applications are clearly one of the priorities of the Kübler Company. The automation level of construction machines increases constantly. More and more sensors are used in machines for control or safety monitoring purposes, for monitoring rotary or linear movements and for measuring the inclination.

How was the fair for us? Did it meet our expectations and did we establish valuable contacts?
Once again, the BAUMA showed to be the most important fair worldwide for construction machinery. It has been a highlight among the fairs we had in 2013. It did not only meet our expectations, it exceeded them. This can be noticed looking at the impact of our fair stand, the number of visitors and the quality of the projects that have been discussed.

What was the benefit of the fair? Did it help positioning us better?
The fair helped us to increase our reputation as a leading manufacturer of sensors for construction machines. And, of course, the project discussions with our customers will allow us to extend our products range. The technical developers of the customers are our contact persons, and they also take the opportunity of the fair to monitor the competition and review new technologies offered by suppliers and system providers.

Will we take part in this fair again in the future?
We will of course be present at the BAUMA in Munich in 3 years. But also the offshoots of the BAUMA, for example in China and in India are important professional meeting places for Kübler.

Kübler Gebäude

Confidence and cohesion - Apprentices and students learn teamwork

Fritz Kübler GmbH has been committed for many years in the areas of training and studies, allowing young people a successful start in their professional life. So, this year too, five new apprentices and two dual university students in the commercial and professional areas have been received at Kübler. Before they started their first working day at their new company, the newcomers were welcome by Mister Robert Brand, the responsible trainer of the Kübler company. Each of the seven young people was given a mentor - an apprentice or a student, who will support her or him in the future.

After the new apprentices and students gathered this first experience of their daily professional life, an exciting day full of instructive experiences was awaiting them. Within the framework of the reception of new trainees, Fritz Kübler GmbH organises every year an excursion for the apprentices and students of all training years. This year, they visited the company Zwerger und Raab GmbH in Hinterzarten, which specialises in the areas of experiential education, outdoor training and apprentice training (further information under http://www.zwerger-raab.de).

To start, the newcomers quickly learned mutual confidence by showing the courage to be led blindly through the forest and to let themselves fall and be caught by their new and still unknown colleagues. During the rest of the morning, they put to test their confidence in their own abilities and even strengthened it when the participants, secured by climbing gear, had to cross a gorge on a rope bridge, which also put their sense of balance to a hard test.

After the efforts and joys of the previous hours, the group members regained their strength with a well-deserved lunch they had brought themselves. The following orienteering race was without any doubt the highlight of the day. Three teams - equipped with map extracts, compasses and walkie-talkies - had to co-ordinate themselves mutually in order to find defined locations in the surrounding area. The organisers and Mister Brand, who were listening to the radio messages, surely had almost as much fun as the participants, who had to show sense of communication and flair for this exercise.

Finally, teamwork was emphasised again: once more, the teams had to show spirit of invention and manual dexterity to build a rather rudimentary device to prevent raw eggs from falling down.

The response of this excursion was very positive: during the final common dinner, they all discussed happily about the experiences and findings of the day - after which all looked forward with a good feeling to the following working day. Next year again, Fritz Kübler GmbH will be looking for apprentices for the mechatronics technician and industrial clerk professions (also with additional qualifications).

Bernhard Preißler.

The Kübler Company goes on expanding. Only four years after the last large extension, the operations for the new building complex will soon be completed. An additional surface of 1700 square meters will thus be available for product development, industrialisation and production.

No, having the staff meet for a pleasant celebration did not become yet a routine at Kübler. Nevertheless, the rapid development of this worldwide acting company always provides new great opportunities for celebrating. So, shortly before the completion of the latest project, the managing directors Gebhard and Lothar Kübler invited their staff once more for a common breakfast. Right at the beginning of his speech, Lothar Kübler emphasized the strategic meaning of this two million Euros investment: "The inauguration of this new area is a clear commitment to our home town here in Villingen-Schwenningen." "We want to continue achieving highest competitiveness on this site", added Gebhard Kübler, "let us surpass ourselves jointly."

On the ground floor, production has been expanded, new production islands have been created, others have been transferred. Furthermore, the existing section has been modernised and forms now one single unit with the new area. "We optimised very accurately many work processes in compliance with Kaizen methods", explained Frank Schad. Being in charge of this continuous improvement process, he bears the responsibility for these changes jointly with Foreman Andreas Happle and Facility Manager Gotthard Dufner, and their respective teams. So, for example, transport routes or areas have been saved and process times have been reduced. This was not an easy task, since the whole work had to be carried out while production was running. "But this hard work is paying off now, we became even more efficient", rejoiced Frank Schad.

On the ground floor, close to the production, the new rest area with kitchenette, vending machines, seats and lockers for the factory workers is under construction. "Our colleagues will then have the possibility to take their breaks as close as possible to their workplace", said Frank Schad.
The first floor experienced and is still experiencing huge changes, all in the spirit of an "even closer coordination of the various departments and thus of the improvement of the production creation process", as Lothar Kübler emphasized. All development departments are now located directly besides each other. Direct ways, intended to lead to direct workflows.
Ecological considerations have also been taken into consideration in this new building. A photovoltaic installation will generate a part of the required energy. And the modern air conditioning plant will ensure pleasant temperatures in the building. "The building is the envelope, we all must now fill it with life", so Lothar Kübler's appeal.
How long may this envelope be sufficient, in view of the ambitious turnover targets? The answer is clear: the next celebration will surely have to wait, since the planning of the building provided for about 50 percent free space in the production area, in order to have sufficient space for the medium-term expansion.

Sound business management is one of the pillars of the corporate culture at Kübler. This has now been confirmed by the Hoppenstedt Kreditinformationen GmbH credit agency.
"This accolade is confirmation of the work we do to ensure we maintain the highest level of integrity in all our financial affairs," said Managing Director Gebhard Kübler happily. And it is proof overall for the successful development of the business, which has turned Kübler into one of the leading manufacturers of position and motion sensors, as well as of counting and process technology products.

More fairs than ever - The SPS in Nuremberg was the successful conclusion of an eventful fairs year at Kübler

SPS 2011
Tired but satisfied: the Kübler team poses for the group picture at the SPS.

One fair chases away the other. This is how the year 2011 could be summarised at Kübler. The company never took part in so many fairs than this year. The highpoint was without doubt the SPS/IPC/DRIVES fair in Nuremberg, which reached once more a new record in November with 1,429 exhibitors and over 56,000 visitors.

He was visible from far away, the deeply relaxed businessman. He presented himself to the fair visitors on a bright 30 square meter white fabric wall. There is no doubt that, with this picture and its slogan "Kübler – Sicher ein gutes Gefühl" (Kübler - without any doubt a good feeling) the company created a memorable eye-catcher, which could not be overlooked. A good feeling also appeared when drawing the conclusions of these three days in Nuremberg: "We experienced a very successful fair, the significantly higher investment has been worthwhile", said radiant, more than satisfied Manager Gebhard Kübler. Indeed, Kübler managed to create on 95 square metres a stand that met its standards. And the reactions of the visitors showed that we managed to meet their requirements. They praised its design and functionality.

Especially two innovations were immediately apparent. On the one hand, the presentation of the products. The height of these constructions has been notably reduced to give the stand a more open visual effect. On the other hand, the pleasant lounge with ten comfortable armchairs. Replacing the two closed conference rooms with this lounge showed out to be a happy decision.

Focussing the fair on the safety subject has also been a full success. "We had many good discussions, especially relating to our new safety modules for drive monitoring", said Branch Manager Markus Brunner.
Kübler set high objectives before this three-day fair in Nuremberg. Gebhard Kübler set the tone: "The SPS is from far the most important fair for us, it has to reflect the positive development of the whole company". This mission was accomplished, the number of visitors increased by not less than 50 percent with respect to the previous year. "A fantastic result, with a very high quality of discussions", said delighted Manager Lothar Kübler, already thinking of the next step: "And now real work starts".

The SPS concludes the fairs - at least in Germany - for this year. A year with more fairs that ever before at Kübler. In addition to the very large events such as the SPS or the Hanover fair, the agenda included a whole series of specialised trade fairs. So Kübler took part in the Showtech (stage technology) in Berlin, the METEC (Steel industry) in Düsseldorf or the Interlift (Lift technology) in Augsburg, "in order to show to every branch of industry our relevant competence", emphasised Lothar Kübler. This obviously has been a success, since the response was very positive. Logical consequence: the company will take part as an exhibitor also in the future editions of these fairs.

So the strategy consisting in banking increasingly on the fairs seems to bear fruit. And this internationally, since also in France, India and China, Kübler staff welcomes always more often visitors on fairs.
This is surprising since, not more than a decade ago, at the time of the first Internet boom, many experts rang the alarm bell and announced the death of the fairs. Nevertheless, especially the specialised trade fairs managed to reinforce their positions in the last years. And Kübler will participate - also in the future.

The Kübler Group is growing and today employs 370 staff, of whom 250 alone are based at its Villingen-Schwenningen (Black Forest) location. We still have numerous job vacancies and are finding it increasingly difficult to obtain the right skilled personnel. This situation can only get more critical in the future. It will become ever more important to support recruitment of personnel by the use of intensive public relations. This is one of the reasons why we are getting involved as the main sponsor for the basketball players of the "Schwenningen Panthers."

Why specifically the Panthers? Well, this is a well-run club with young, motivated players, who enthusiastically pursue their sport whether as amateurs or professionals. Basketball today is an attractive sport with fast growing interest from the public. This ties in well with the Kübler Group, as through this we will further increase our name recognition in the region.

"We are breaking new ground here", emphasises Managing Director Gebhard Kübler, giving further reasons for his involvement. "Currently at Kübler a health management program is being introduced and of course sports sponsorship fits in well with this too. Our employees come into close contact with the subject of sport and receive free and VIP tickets as a reward for special achievements."

This partnership can also be showcased at trade fairs, when for instance players can be incorporated into the stand concept and take on corresponding representative functions. And it may well be in the future during our sales conferences, once the official programme is over, that we slot in some specialised training in the Deutenberghalle.

Kübler has already supported sports clubs in the past, but not on this scale or in such a close tie-up. Basketball and Kübler should be mentioned in the same breath and so we aim to use the many different advertising possibilities that the club is offering us. This starts with the branding of the jerseys, then with perimeter advertising boards and finally banners in the Deutenberghalle sports arena, where specific information regarding Kübler will be displayed.

"Our Corporate Identity will be easily recognized", says Lothar Kübler. The concept also includes the juniors - here Kübler wishes to be just as active, for example in youth tour-naments or training camps.

(Author: Simone Paprotta, see picture to the right)
Four of the eight weeks of my pre-training course for my studies in the Kübler Company in Schwenningen are already over. Even though this is a very short period of time, it gives me a good idea of many interesting aspects of the operation of a medium-sized company. And I had the opportunity – I did not expect this at all – to take part already in two celebrations. The first was the cut of spade for the new building, and the second the Health Day followed by the summer festival.

Having spent the first weeks of my training course in the Marketing department, I attended very closely the preparations for this first Health Day of the Company, which was co-organized by many companies of the health sector. I was allowed to help, and I enjoyed this work. All company staff was in the best mood when the day arrived. Everybody had the possibility to register previously for two items among all those offered by the vast program of this Health Day.
I went first to the running analysis: being a sports enthusiast, I felt this would be very interesting. I had to run for some minutes on a travelator, while my feet were filmed. Then the system analyzed the position of my feet and recommended me the shoe suitable for my feet. My second appointment was the foot pressure measurement, which was also very instructive. It showed how the weight of the body is pressing on the feet while running.

There were of course many other stations, with various possibilities to learn about oneself. So many Kübler members had their blood pressure, glycemia and lipemia measured, or had the function of their veins checked. The good atmosphere was provided by the Zumba. This lively training session was supported by Latino rhythms. Even Manager Gebhard Kübler did not want to miss the Zumba and danced merrily. Those who wanted to do something for their deep musculature used the Flexibar stick. Hats off, what looked so easy at the first glance showed to be really hard. It made even the strongest boys sweat.

The proposed lectures gave interesting tips for daily life, for example how to prevent negative stress. And the muscular relaxation offered various exercises, supported by meditative music. Even for the face, which led to the funniest grimaces.
People also had the possibility to have simply a treat. Especially the mobile massage station was very appreciated and fully booked right from the beginning of the day. Those who did not manage to get an appointment strolled through the many information stands, inquiring about the company-internal running groups or tasting delicious ice creams, fresh fruit juices and healthy snacks. The buffet opened in the late afternoon, offering a variety able to satisfy even the most fussy.

Finally, the health day ended with a lottery and some final words of Manager Gebhard Kübler. As he did when opening the health day, he emphasized: "We want to establish the health day in our Company, promote the personal health behavior and a way of working in the Company that respects health".
These last words closed the health day, giving way to the summer festival, which ended for everybody with a pleasant and happy evening.

The winner region Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg organized for the first time, in cooperation with the Arena Geisingen, the job fair "Students on Skates".

The event took place in a very special locality, unique in Germany - the Inline Skating sports complex of Geisingen, "We felt the combination of sportive event and job fair was interesting, and this is why we wanted to take part as exhibitors in this premiere", said Jürgen Stegmann, head of personnel at Kübler.

Siegfried Kauder, CDU member of the Bundestag, was also among the guests. In his address, he accented the importance of young and well-trained people for the future of the region. "We have no natural resources, we have only what is in your heads", emphasized the politician.

Factory extension creates space for innovations

The 1,500 square metres extension is a clear confession for the economic location Germany

The symbolic cut of spade was the culmination of the ceremony: from left to right: Dr. Christof Münzer of the Association of Industrial Enterprises, the Managing Directors Gebhard and Lothar Kübler, the representatives of the construction services provider Vollak Rainer Kracht and Mirjam Arnu, the Head of the Supervisory Board Erika Kübler, the mayor Dr. Rupert Kubon and the business developer Georg Seeck. Spatenstich Ansprache
Speech of the Managing Directors Lothar and Gebhard Kübler, with the Head of the Supervisory Board Erika Kübler, at the occasion of the factory extension.

"The currently good economic situation, the successful acquisition of new customers and markets and a multiplicity of new innovations, which Kübler wants to take to market maturity“. These are the arguments brought forward by Lothar Kübler to justify this new factory extension.
The production area of the Schwenningen site has been extended in 2007 by 2,500 square meters, but a new pressing need for more space for the innovations soon appeared. Together with the mayor Dr. Rupert Kubon, the representatives of the construction services provider Vollak, Rainer Kracht and Mirjam Arnu, and the business developer Georg Seeck, the Kübler staff celebrated the cut of spade. The whole personnel gathered for meatloaf rolls and fresh buttered pretzels on the factory car park, where the new extension, with the most up to date heating and solar technology is to be built for the end of the year. "With this 1,500 square metres extension, we double the area available for product development and industrialisation, and we create space for further production islands" added Lothar Kübler.
With by now 250 collaborators in Schwenningen and more than 360 worldwide, the Kübler Group is one of the flagships of the town, and so the mayor announced that the street leading to the company site would receive a new road covering. This improvement is important for the image of the company with regard to demanding international customers.
Being one of the worldwide leaders in the branch of counting and sensor technology, it is important for us to continue banking on a profit-oriented growth. The building extension here in Schwenningen is the base for this growth and a clear confession for the location Germany.
After the great celebration for the 50th jubilee last summer and the distinction as the Business of the Month awarded by the Economic Development Corporation for the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region in November, this was again a suitable time for Kübler to celebrate. Even the strong wind did not stop us. At the contrary: after the muggy heat of the past days, this was a welcome cooling, which did not manage to cut down our enthusiasm.

The scene had many symbolic aspects. Erika Kübler stood beaming with joy in the large training room and happily accepted the good wishes of the staff on the occasion of her 80th birthday. "Hopefully I can continue to drive my own car for many years to come," she commented to one well-wisher. "That is very important to me."

Remaining active and taking part in everything - this is what the Head of the Supervisory Board at Kübler asks of herself and exemplifies on a daily basis. Nor did she pass over the opportunity on her birthday to invite all the members of her wider 'Kübler family' to a hearty lunch. "My heart and soul are so closely tied up with this company," she explained to the 250 guests.

How could it be otherwise? After all, Erika Kübler helped write an important chapter in the success story of Kübler. "You can be proud of what you, your husband Fritz and your sons Gebhard and Lothar have achieved over the past 50 years," observed Jürgen Stegmann in his speech in her honour. In a short retrospective the HR manager showed a few snapshots highlighting the history of the company. From the early days in the family home via the ongoing development in the company's own premises up to the present day, where the Kübler Group has seven additional overseas daughter companies and around 60 sales partners around the globe.

Erika Kübler looked back at her own eventful life. "The 80 years have gone by so quickly," she sighed, without however getting melancholic. "I have the lovely memories of my dear husband and the daily support of my sons to keep me going," she said.
It is a happy look back at the past, but it does not end there for Erika Kübler. Quite the opposite: she still comes regularly into the company. Not only as a welcome discussion partner, since this four-times grandmother also brings with her a certain congenial flair. For example, during Advent, she decked out the offices with Christmas stars and other festive objects. There is no doubt, Erika Kübler brings a kind heart into the business, and - considering what she has achieved in her life - so much more.

"I don't need anything now at 80 - I have everything," was her reply, when asked what she would like for her birthday. "If the staff would like to give something, maybe they could make a small donation to charity," she added. No sooner said than done; a collection raised 540 Euros and this was given to the children's Cancer Care Home in Tannheim.

"We look forward to celebrating your 90th birthday again here, just like today", said Gebhard Kübler, wishing his mother all the best and, together with his brother Lothar, praising her for all that she had done. Not only on this day were the family bonds evident to be seen.

And just to prove that the distribution of roles between sons and mothers still functions, Jürgen Stegmann related a nice anecdote. "It can happen, for example, that Lothar Kübler has to take an unscheduled break from his business duties, because his mother wants to make "Knöpfle" noodles for the grandchildren. And for this Swabian speciality she needs the help of her son to operate the appropriate special machine." So, a real family business all-round!

Oh, is it Christmas already?

iPad Gewinner
The proud winner in the middle: Jan Hagemoser is happy about the iPad drawed by Kübler. Nikolaus Gräf (CEO Dunker/left) and Dirk Clemens (Sales Director Kübler) congratulate.

Franz Beckenbauer once advertised a mobile telephone with this now legendary slogan and Jan Hagemoser must have experienced the same feeling as the icon of German football. The development engineer from Dunkermotoren in the Black Forest town of Bonndorf was visiting the SPS show in Nuremberg and dropped by the Kübler stand to pick up some information on rotary encoders.

Our sales engineer Karl Klaritsch made a note of the discussions in an exhibition visitor report and so Jan Hagemoser was entered into the prize draw for an iPad. Kübler had come up with the idea to show off one of these much-desired tablet computers in a glass box on their exhibition stand - an idea which proved to be a big hit. 355 visitors popped their business card into the box, each hoping to be the lucky winner. The winner was drawn from both these cards and from the numerous visitor reports. When making the draw, the Kübler stand personnel made ingenious use of one of their own products, namely a Codix counter, which served as a technical lottery wheel. As the numbers whizzed by, the counter was suddenly stopped and it was number 183 that was lit up in the display; this corresponded to the visitor report for Jan Hagemoser.

"Amazing! I never thought this would happen," said Jan Hagemoser happily, as he learned of his good fortune. The 33-year old was over the moon at receiving this early Christmas gift, presented to him by Kübler Sales Director Dirk Clemens. Nikolaus Gräf, Managing Director of Dunkermotoren also made a point of personally congratulating the winner.
"That iPad would make an ideal Christmas present", chuckled Dirk Clemens jokingly, glancing at Jan Hagemoser. The new owner however was having none of this. "No way", he replied, "I'm keeping this to myself, thanks!"

The Kübler Group is delighted to be honoured with a very special award. The Economic Development Corporation for the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg region has chosen us as "Business of the Month for November". An independent jury, comprising economic development advisers from the three administrative districts Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis, Rottweil and Tuttlingen, selected us from a large number of candidates. The selection was based on three criteria: commercial success, special achievements and a long, stable history. "We could not have found a better prize-winner than Kübler, as all three points apply perfectly to them", stressed Heinz-Rudi Link, Managing Director of the Economic Development Corporation for the region of Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg, as he presented the winner's certificate. There is no question that Herr Link hit the nail on the head with this assessment, as this summer the family business marked its 50th Jubilee with a lavish celebration. Impressive evidence of sustainable economic activity, where in the future emphasis will continue to be laid on independence and self-reliance. 2010 has also turned out to be a very successful year and will go down as the best ever in the firm's history to date. Notable accomplishments have been made in the field of new developments. For the Sendix F36 encoder we received the MessTec & Sensor Masters Award as well as the Golden Mousetrap Award, highly regarded in professional circles in the USA. "It was these two prestigious accolades in particular that convinced us in our choice of the Kübler company", commented Heinz-Rudi Link.

Joint Managing Directors Gebhard and Lothar Kübler accepted the award with great pleasure. Standing no less proudly next to them was Erika Kübler, Head of the Supervisory Board. The owners of the business were also delighted to hear the comments from the recently re-elected Mayor of Villingen-Schwenningen, Dr. Rupert Kubon, who praised the innovative power of the company, which is a shining example to the whole town.
However they passed this praise directly on to all the members of staff. "This award belongs above all to you, the Kübler employees. You have earned it and it has only been possible thanks to your commitment", said Gebhard Kübler, recognizing the accomplishments of the members of "Team Kübler". This appreciation of the collective achievement was further demonstrated by the fact that the entire workforce had been invited to the award ceremony in the company's large meeting room. The whole team shared their enjoyment at receiving this honour, as they tucked into a 'second breakfast' of bagels, rolls and coffee.

Spendenuebergabe Tombola

Villingen-Schwenningen, 2nd July. On the occasion of the company's Jubilee, Fritz Kübler GmbH, of Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany, continued its support of three social projects; together with its suppliers, partners and service providers, it raised donations to the tune of 12,900 euro.

Running a successful business also carries obligations when it comes to social commitment. As they looked back over the history of their company Fritz Kübler GmbH in Villingen-Schwenningen - a past that spans five decades - the management of this manufacturer of measurement technology, took the opportunity to clearly demonstrate this obligation. As they handed over the donation, the joint Managing Directors Gebhard and Lothar Kübler explained, "Kübler has been supporting the efforts of a wide variety of people for many years". The family business is involved with projects in Villingen-Schwenningen, Africa and Columbia.

"Together round a table" is the motto of the Vesperkirche church in Schwenningen, which aims to bring people together and provide them with a festive meal. This mission aims to be more than just a gesture of care and humanity for all those, who often go away empty-handed when gifts are being distributed. With the support from Kübler to the amount of 4300 euro, the tables at Christmas will be laid with a festive spread for all those people, who are affected by poverty or who have ended up living on the margin of society.

With the Wakina Mama na Watoto Foundation, Kübler is lending assistance, also in the amount of 4300 euro, to a self-help project for the people of Hezya, a scattered settlement in south-west Tanzania. The foundation was established in 1991; the name translates as "Mothers and Children". A project that initially focussed in particular on women and mothers, has grown over the years into a broadly based community development programme, which has come to benefit the entire population living in and around the region. Works are currently underway on a water facility, a house for the women, as well as on a school.

10 years ago the Bocachica Health Care Centre started out with the construction of a large number of toilet facilities on an island in Columbia, where previously the majority of the local people had neither access to hot meals, nor to any schooling, let alone any public health care provision. Over time an old ship was also converted into a floating hospital ward, in order to bring medical assistance to other neighbouring islands. With 4300 euro from Kübler, the missionary Martin Hakenjos can push on with his work in the missionary station "Libertad" that he founded.

Kübler takes a look back at its history and then announces ambitious plans for the future

"Products can be copied, but not the way in which our Kübler team works". With these words the joint managing directors of the family concern praised their employees in a speech marking the recent 50th Jubilee of the company. "50 Years of Innovation" - this is the motto during this jubilee year. On the 2nd July Kübler organised their official jubilee celebration and gave numerous examples of how the company puts innovation into effect.

For the occasion the Kübler Group erected what looked like a tent city round the company premises. Here the 650 guests and 75 children were treated to a wide-ranging programme of entertainment that continued into the early hours. The guests sensed the feeling of pride, which the employees felt in what they had achieved, accompanied by a strong sense of belonging and optimism, looking forward to a future as part of an ongoing successful independent family business. This is what made such an impressive event possible - one that had been meticulously planned down to the final detail and one that was marked out above all by the extra-special commitment of the employees, said the employers.

The festive day was already underway on the Friday morning. An international press conference was first on the agenda, followed by a number of presentations. After lunch came a tour of the company for customers, employees, families and guests. Information points had been erected at more than 11 positions round the company, where experts from Kübler showed visitors the production cells, the product development areas as well as all the other departments. What was particularly evident was the high level of orderliness and cleanliness, the state-of-the-art machines and equipment as well as a high awareness for clear structures - these were the highlights of the tour.

A full programme had been organised for the evening. This got underway with the Schwenningen marching band under Filipo Zerbo, himself an employee in Kübler's export department. Nearly all the company's 300 employees from round the world were present, together with their families, as well as loyal customers, suppliers and guests of honour. "For what counts is cooperation between employees, management, suppliers and customers - and this is true all over the world", emphasised the company directors. Visitors, including around 100 employees from subsidiaries, travelled from over 32 companies to congratulate the company. They all thoroughly enjoyed the variety artists on the stage and - in temperatures more akin to the tropics - danced the night away to salsa beats. The buffet, which had begun around mid-day and then continued on till midnight, treated the international guests to a selection of typical local food and drinks from the 6 countries, where Kübler has its own companies: Germany, France, Italy, Poland, India and China. Kübler had also set up its own children's play area to keep the little ones happy the whole day long. The goal wall was constantly bombarded, with every hit on target being rewarded with a bright world-cup football in Kübler orange - this gave rise to much envy amongst the fathers present! A tombola with donated prizes totalling 4000 euro formed part of a large social programme, in addition to further donations from suppliers and management.

Today, the family business - the Kübler Group - is internationally one of the leading companies in length and angle measurement, counting and process technology and, more recently, transmission technology. But along the way the path was not always easy. Both directors, Gebhard and Lothar Kübler, remembered the time the company, Fritz Kübler Feingerätebau, was founded 50 years ago, in their parents' house in the Hahnstrasse in Schwenningen. They also remembered their father's boundless energy: "You only had to mention the subjects of technology, patents or quality for our father's eyes to light up. Looking after his customers is what drove him on and inspired him". It was also very evident at the festive evening that Fritz Kübler had placed special value on long-term business relationships. In the presence of their mother Erika Kübler, herself a senior director of the company, Lothar and Gebhard Kübler then honoured those business partners, who had worked together with Kübler over a period of many years. These too are also now in the second generation, like Kübler. They are the family businesses Massimino from Italy and Ellis from the USA, who received their awards, alongside the oldest serving German distributor partners Fuhrmeister and Seidel.

"I stand before you as the only contemporary witness from the past 50 years of our company" said Erika Kübler, widow of the company founder, who passed away in 2003. In her speech, she gave a moving summary of the early years and at the end received a standing ovation.

In his address, Mayor Dr. Rupert Kubon stressed that the company is a fine advertisement for the town and reminded those present of the importance of medium-sized businesses for the whole region's development. He was proud to have such a company in Villingen-Schwenningen. This pleased the Chief Executive of the Baden-Wurttemberg Trade Association WVIB, Dr. Christoph Münzer, who in his speech focussed on the subject of the family: "It is rare that a family business is run so harmoniously and successfully by two brothers".

On behalf of all the staff, HR Manager Jürgen Stegmann presented the family with a map of the world, showing all the Kübler employees. The Kübler trainees had made a video as a gift for the management; this took an entertaining and motivating look at the company's history. The management expressed their thanks for these very personal gifts.

"We feel that we are all one big Kübler family, who share the same values, no matter where we are", said Xuan Xianbin, Vice President Sales and Marketing of Kübler China in his greeting.

The management in their joint speech remembered the generation change in 1997. Fathers and sons are often also beset with problems when the new generation takes over. "Not in our case", said the brothers. "Our father trusted us, we had freedom and there was always a good feeling. When we took over we had just 110 employees, with over 7 million euro turnover and a high equity ratio".

Since then Kübler has grown impressively to reach the size it is today. Many long-term customers, but also new ones, form the basis for this. The Kübler brothers were very proud just how many customers had made the journey to the jubilee and thanked them for their cooperation, often over many years.
With Rolf Scholl as an example, the management paid tribute to all those staff that had put in many years of loyal service. Herr Scholl himself had been part of the company for 40 of those 50 years.

In the spirit of the jubilee motto "50 Years of Innovation", Gebhard and Lothar Kübler unveiled two attractions during the celebrations. Firstly, a newly designed innovation room with a multimedia wall and secondly a book about the company's history - fresh of the presses - with the title "50 Years of Innovation". "In the future we will be able to give both to our customers - a look back at our history and also into the - innovative - future of the business".

Both brothers are looking ahead with confidence. "With this team we will be able to deal with the demands of the future," they commented.

"If you want to look into the future, then you must also look into the past", so say the two brothers, joint Managing Directors of the Kübler Group. There is reason enough for both in this 50th Jubilee year.

50 years ago the young engineer Fritz Kübler founded the Fritz Kübler Feinger?tebau company, which ranks today among the principal international family businesses, manufacturing distance and angle sensors, counting and process technology and transmission technology. Customers include leading industrial manufacturers of drives, mobile automation, wind turbines, energy meters and lifts/elevators, as well as numerous small- and medium-sized companies from every imaginable market sector.

In the family home in Villingen-Schwenningen Fritz Kübler, supported by his wife Erika, opened the first chapter in the company's history. He wanted to take off in the market by focussing on quality and precision. Using this strategy, this one-man business developed within just a few years into an internationally successful company. Even in the early 1960s he had established a second key market in the USA, alongside the home market in Germany. Here, interpersonal understanding was more important than a common language, as the company founder spoke virtually no English.

A short time meter laid the basis

The starting gun of the company's history was fired by one product that was to set standards: the first short time meter in the world that had a permanent time display. The patented device ensured that the analogue indicator did not drop out - as was the case with the competitors' products - but remained visible. This meant that exact measurements in the range of milliseconds were possible. Shortly afterwards Fritz Kübler started with his first electromechanical counters. These were followed in the 1970s by the electronic counters.

The next round

Since 1989 rotary encoders have become an integral part of the Kübler portfolio. A market that was already well-established. However Kübler's products were well-known right from the start for their high degree of ruggedness and low number of components. Indeed the company was soon a pacesetter in the market with its hollow shaft encoders. Thus began the success story. In the early days Kübler was proud to manufacture 100 devices in a week. Now it ranks among the 'Top 5' in the sector. Its distance and angle measurement sensors division now also includes linear measuring systems and inclinometers.

Kübler: Data and Facts

The Kübler Group has three business divisions: Distance and Angle Measurement with approx. 60 % share of the turnover, Counting and Process Technology with around 34% and the relatively new sector Transmission Technology with 6%. For 2010, Kübler is expecting the consolidated turnover of the Group to be 31.5 million euro. The main company in Germany, based in Villingen-Schwenningen, is expected to account for 28 million euro of this. Kübler will thus emerge stronger from the crisis, more than recouping the drop in turnover experienced in 2009. "In our 50th Jubilee year we will reach a new all-time high in turnover," announced the employers proudly.

The Group now employees around 300 staff, of which 200 are based at the main site in Villingen-Schwenningen and the remainder at the various 6 subsidiaries worldwide. The export share of the turnover is currently around 65%. In comparison, in 1997, at the time of the changeover to the new generation, Kübler's turnover was around 7 million euro, which shows just how much the company has grown in recent years.

The next generation takes over

Fritz Kübler's sons, Gebhard and Lothar, have been running the business since 1997, when they took over from their father. They remember, "Fathers and sons. You often hear about difficulties and conflicts, when the next generation takes over. But not in our case. Our father trusted us, we had freedom and there was always a good feeling. There were never really any conflicts. When he handed the business over to us, he knew that there were some things that we had to change, so that the company was ready to deal with the future." "Processes and structures, for example, needed courageous modernisation", says Gebhard Kübler. The founder of the company, however, continued to provide help and guidance, in his role as head of the advisory board, until his death in 2003.

Many people, who have accompanied the business over the years, observe that it has re-invented itself many times. Despite this, the most important core values have never changed.

What is important: The Kübler values

Since the day of its foundation, the Fritz Kübler GmbH company has been connected inseparably with the Kübler family - the company is built on the solid foundations of family values and family culture. "Values which," Lothar Kübler is convinced, "are essential for a healthy business". And statistics substantiate this: value-oriented businesses are more profitable.

The founder himself, Fritz Kübler, advised his sons - and later successors - that for a healthy and successful family business to remain independent (including from external finance - their own capital exceeds 70%), it is vital to act responsibly and to treat employees always with respect. For, to the core values at Kübler belongs the awareness that the real competitive advantage of an innovative company lies in the capabilities of the staff. This is clearly demonstrated by continual modifications, improvements and a fast reaction to changes in the market.

The brothers remain convinced that "In this way we remain innovative and the results - such as good turnover and profits - follow". Fritz Kübler continually moved his life's dream a step further with the help of innovative products. "We have remained committed to this strategy to this day", emphasize the brothers.

Service makes all the difference

Kübler stands out from mass of other companies, as it has re-thought the concept of service and adapts it carefully to the requirements of its target markets. Zig Ziglar's motto "Stop selling - start helping" is of key importance to the company's owners. Moreover they demand a 'hands-on' mentality: "A Kübler employee doesn't ask others what should be done, but rather he asks himself - and then he does it," said Gebhard Kübler, explaining the difference, which is already evident in the basic approach. This gives rise to success factors such as customer focus, operating efficiency, adherence to delivery schedules, system integration and delivery flexibility - these are what impress Kübler's customers in the market.

The Kübler Design System defines Customer Service in four systematic steps. The initial precise analysis of the customer requirements is followed by the identification of the optimal technology, the implementation of tried-and-tested methodology and a maximum of after-sales support. "Based on our many years experience, we have put together a package that provides our customers with real on-going assistance and supplies just the right solution," comment the Küblers further. And the fact that customer satisfaction pays is demonstrated by the 5 successful decades of the company's history.

Generation covenant

Kübler has been following this path of constant improvement for many years. 2 years ago an Improvements Office was set up, and an Improvements Manager appointed. Kübler calls this path Kübler - Kaizen - Culture. Step by step the employees have learned to focus their awareness, thinking and behaviour on constant improvement. This culture is the means by which the company will be kept healthy for future generations too. This is not a project but a permanent task. The employees continually strive to recognise waste and to eliminate it, as well as working day-by-day to improve quality. In this way they make a substantial contribution to the strengthening of the German site.

Kübler in the future

It is impossible to predict the future. Who would have thought that there would have been an economic crisis of such proportions at the end of 2008? What is certain, however, is that the world is becoming ever more dynamic. The joint Managing Directors are certain that "The future lies in empowering all the employees in our organisation, so that they can deal with whatever demands are made on them. Each day requires new, appropriate smart solutions. On the surface, this course of action may appear to be expensive, but in the end it saves a lot of time and money. Above all, it brings about real competitive advantages and demands innovation. Here we are setting off on an exciting path that we are really looking forward to".

In 10 years

In the coming 10 years Kübler is planning to build and expand further international centres of expertise, in order to maximise its customer liaison and support in regional markets in a number of countries. However, "Germany will remain very important from a strategic point of view. We need a strong presence in our home market, in order to have a good foundation for a healthy, international expansion," stress the employers. Kübler plans to strengthen its cooperation with colleges, university departments and other partners, as well as investigating a variety of business models and profit drivers.

If all goes to plan, Kübler reckons that its global turnover will triple by the year 2020, to reach a figure in the region of 90 to100 million euro.

In 25 years

"Of course, we do not know now what will happen in 25 years time, but we think that by then we will have similar quantum leaps behind us, like we have had in the past 25 years," predicts Gebhard Kübler. "Then we hope that the next generation, in other words our children, will be ready to take over the responsibility" adds his brother Lothar.

Social commitment is important

The owners of the business also want to use their success to support social projects. Over the past few years the company has already been lending its support to three projects, two overseas and one locally. Within the framework of the jubilee celebrations, Kübler's suppliers along with the management and employees donated over 12,000 euro to these good causes.

"We should like to thank our customers and employees" stress Gebhard and Lothar Kübler. Both owners are very pleased with what has been achieved till now and are looking ahead with confidence. "With this team we will be able to deal with the demands of the future," they add.

The core business of the Kübler Group is the design and development, manufacture and marketing of position and movement sensors, display and counting technology as well as transmission technology.

50 years ago, on the 1st April 1960, the young engineer Fritz Kübler founded the Fritz Kübler Feingerätebau company in his own home in Schwenningen, Germany. Kübler today is still an independent family business, with around 280 employees, and with its own subsidiary companies in 6 countries.

Since the early days of the company, its success has always rested on 3 pillars: innovative products and solutions, independence from banks and large corporations as well as a strong international orientation. Kübler's latest product introduction - the first 100% optical electronic multiturn encoder - has won a number of awards for its innovative technology.

Kübler Live Breakfast all round the world.

"Over the 50 years that our company has been in existence there has been both: sectors in which we have constantly re-invented ourselves, such as our thinking with regard to processes, completely new manufacturing methods, our global organisation and then values that today still today form the foundation of our company, such as, for example, being - and wishing to remain - a healthy financially-independent family business". So declared the joint Managing Directors Lothar and Gebhard Kübler in their welcoming address on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the company's foundation back on 1st April 1960. This was listened to by all the employees right round the world. Approximately 280 colleagues from Schwenningen and from the company subsidiaries in 6 countries enjoyed the live experience and at the same time a happy and moving ceremony. In the Schwenningen canteen around 200 employees celebrated with greetings, canap?s and a nice glass of German sparkling wine. In India there was even a proper birthday cake, decorated with the German flag, on the table in the conference room of the Indian daughter company. This event marked the official start of the jubilee celebration this year, of which the highpoint will be the official jubilee celebration that will take place on the 2nd July.

This global meeting was made possible by the latest technology: project leader Sebastian Wölfle and his team pulled out all the stops, not only to connect together all the daughter companies from China to Poland via the Internet, but also to allow all the fellow employees to see all the celebrations displayed together on a big screen. This meant that the clinking of glasses and the accompanying congratulations in 6 languages could ring round the room. And whilst the Kübler subsidiaries in India, Poland, France and China, along with their colleagues in Schwenningen and Munich, were drinking to the company's future, at the same time they were able to learn a lot about the origins of the business.

Erika Kübler
Speech of the Head of the Supervisory Board Erika Kübler.

In a moving speech Erika Kübler, talked about the early days. At that time she was engaged to the company founder Fritz Kübler, and together with his mother Rosine, was the first employee in the Hahnstrasse, Schwenningen - more or less without pay! And without this dynamic support the ambitious young engineer's wish to set up his own business would have come to nothing. "For the early days were hard and we were of modest means", reminisced the lady, who was later to become the wife of the founder. And it was just these qualities of simplicity and humility demonstrated by the founder, which helped the company take those decisive steps forward. "In our parents home it all went crazy. We extended both the balcony and the cellar to create more space and for a long time the kitchen served as the packing and shipping department," continued Erika Kübler. "Our initial equipment consisted of a second-hand drawing board and an old typewriter. The only company vehicle we had was a Volkswagen Beetle." And so, step by step, the products appeared. It had all started with a patented short-time meter; shortly afterwards the first counters joined the product range. Very early on Fritz Kübler was exporting to the whole world and there was already a good export market in the early 60s in the USA. In 1996 Fritz Kübler retired from the active day-to-day running of the business and passed the company on to his two sons. He continued as head of the advisory board until shortly before his death in 2003.

Kübler Generationen
The Kübler generations:
Erika Kübler, widow of the company founder.
Lothar and Silke Kübler with their three children Leonhardt, Ferdinand and Viktoria.
Gebhard and Nadja Kübler with Josefin.

Managing Director Gebhard Kübler, who - together with his brother Lothar - has run the second-generation business successfully since 1997, pointed out that these values imparted to them by their father, were still deeply embedded in them both. "We learned them as small children round the family table on Sundays." Both Lothar and Gebhard Kübler attended the ceremony accompanied by their wives and their total of 4 children. They left no-one in any doubt that it was their declared wish to steer the company safely and successfully towards their goal of passing on the business once again to the next generation. Gebhard Kübler went on to thank the employees for their untiring efforts. "Through these we will continue to get stronger, enthuse more customers and ensure that our company has the strength to continue for another 50 years - as a family business."

The company is planning a grand official Jubilee celebration to be held on-site on 2nd July this summer. Over 600 customers and partners from the whole world are expected to attend and it will be a family day for the employees. The preparations for this are already running at full speed.

New manufacturing concept makes Kübler fit for the future

By team-members for team members: this week at Kübler the new production cell for encoders "1A" was at the centre of an official ribbon-cutting ceremony. The working area has been developed and optimised for flow production and synchronised times by just those technical experts, who ought to know all about it - the members of the team themselves.

Over a period of just 8 months a team of specialists - under the technical aegis of the Head of Production Development Hans Benedix and the technologist Eberhard Grellmann, together with experts from production - collected, refined and implemented a range of ideas, improvements and suggestions. Every procedure was subjected to the closest scrutiny, every action questioned. Added to this was a high level of accuracy and precision - for instance in an innovative screwdriving station, specially developed for the new production cell.

A lot happens differently in production cell 1A, located right at the entrance of Kübler's production hall. Here high quantities are produced with high efficiency. Rather than offering the option for quick re-tooling for other product types, this new cell offers more rigid fixtures and rigs, with less intermediate storage space at individual stations. Instead of a wide variety of different components, here only large quantities of the same items are built. The individual workpieces move from the first station through to final inspection as if they were on rails - overtaking is prohibited. Each encoder is completely finished, before a new one is started on. "In this way we avoid the drawbacks of batch production, such as increased space requirements, longer throughput times or delays in identifying possible faults" says Head of Product Development Florenz von Guttenberg, explaining the lean manufacturing concept.

Kübler began with the introduction of Kaizen a number of years ago. Kaizen is a management philosophy that originated in the Far East and promotes greater efficiency and sustainability. The 1A Line now fits seamlessly into the list of successful Kaizen projects. The idea is that anybody wishing to offer fast dependable delivery needs above all to have their throughput times under control. This 1A production cell has allowed Kübler to make a decisive step closer to its declared goal of allowing the work to flow in production. If from this week onwards encoders can be assembled more quickly and the quality inspected even more efficiently thanks to new hardware and software, then Kübler's production is fit for the future. "As a result of this optimised production Germany will remain an attractive manufacturing base for Kübler," commented Lothar Kübler, praising the team's performance.

With the founding of the joint venture "Kübler Korea (by F&B)" Fritz Kübler GmbH, the manufacturer of sensor and counting technology, is now looking to further expand its position in the Korean market. The relevant contract for the new joint venture was signed by Gebhard F. Kübler (right), Managing Director of Kübler GmbH and Il Ho Bae (left), F&B Managing Director, who will also assume control of Kübler Korea.

Gebhard F. Kübler describes the motivating factor behind this important step: "Korea is an important growth market for us. We have been very active here for a number of years and very successful too; we can now offer our customers faster, more direct support. "From the company's point of view, he sees the opening of Kübler Korea (by F&B) as the "logical consequence of a long-standing successful working relationship with the existing Kübler distributor F&B."

The Korean subsidiary will have the task of looking after OEM customers and distributors, who supply the market with Kübler components and systems - rotary and linear sensors, transmission technology, as well as counting and process technology. In addition, the joint venture will offer a range of services centred around the mechanical integration of rotary encoders. The new company is located in Busan, the second-largest industrial centre on the southern tip of Korea. "From here we see excellent opportunities to strengthen our position considerably", says Gebhard Kübler confidently.

For one application the dimensions must not exceed 24 mm, for another the hollow shaft must be at least 12 mm diameter for it to be acceptable. For a third application the encoder must be resistant to seawater and have IP69K protection. As there are so many different possible applications, the wide-ranging Kübler portfolio offers many different encoder variants and solutions to suit.

Kübler has now launched on its website its Product Finder, so that in future the optimal solution will be offered straightaway - instead of just a "possible one". In line with the motto "Find rather than search (for a long time)" this simplifies the choice of encoder, reducing it to just a few clicks of the mouse, after which a list of results appears immediately. This not only saves time, but also provides the assurance that you have got exactly the right choice.

The Kübler encoder product finder gets straight down to business: no introductory explanations or step-by-step user instructions, everything is self-explanatory. Characteristics such as design and specifications, interfaces, dimensions, resolution or rotary speed can be clicked on individually or in combinations. No more, no less. Since April 2009 the new Service Centre of LTi Drives has found a home within the premises of Kübler India Pvt. Ltd in Pune, one of the most prosperous cities in India.

LTi Drives, who are a specialist in drive and automation technology, and Kübler GmbH, manufacturer of counting and sensor technology and a business that is active worldwide, have thus both been benefiting from a number of synergy effects, since the joint usage of the infrastructure – already well established by Kübler – brings cost advantages with it. "An important factor in times of the crisis in the economy” emphasised the Managing Directors of the two companies, Gebhard Kübler and Ralf Prechtel.

Moreover LTi Drives is benefiting from the know-how of the Kübler Group, which has been running its own  successful Service Centre – alongside its sales and production departments - at its base in Pune for more than two years.  Together the two companies plan to successfully expand and consolidate their market positions in India. An important aspect of their joint strategy is to offer extremely fast, reliable on-the-spot service.

Kübler currently employs 260 staff worldwide; 15 of these work in the production, service and sales departments within the completely renovated Kübler premises in Pune, India. Here the results of their work meet German quality standards 100% - as is the case at all Kübler's locations worldwide.

New building inauguration

The art of bringing a real benefit to one's customer. Kübler GmbH showed during its customer days how innovations bringing real benefits to the customers ensure the durability and the growth of a company.

Pulses for innovation was the slogan of the last Kübler customer days on October 10 and 11, 2008, during which the company, based in Villingen-Schwenningen, offered a varied programme including professional conferences, ceremonies, technology and entertainment. The subject, innovation, was the common theme all along this event which, with over 100 international guests, packed the house. New: the factory with an area of 2,500 square metres and its Development Centre, which was inaugurated within the framework of the costumer days. Another innovation: manufacturing in line with the Kaizen and One Piece Flow principles; Kübler is currently implementing a company-wide Kaizen culture.

This globally acting counter and sensor technology manufacturer understands innovation essentially as follows: it must begin- and also end - with the customer. Gebhard Kübler, company manager, describes the philosophy of the firm "We, as Kübler GmbH, endeavour to search for innovation on site, at our very customer's. And, for example, regarding reliable encoders, we showed what can be expected from us in the close future".

The inauguration of the factory. Innovations on a new 2,500 square metres production area.

By nature, this technology firm based in the South-West of Germany is not prone to pomp and show. Yet an event as exceptional as the inauguration of a state-of-the-art production building, with its high-tech manufacturing installations, had to be the opportunity of a suitable celebration. In the presence of 100 customers, 205 collaborators, the specialised press, Dr Rupert Kubonn, the mayor of Villingen-Schwenningen, as well as many guests of honour from industry and research - and in the presence of the wife of the founder of the company, Mrs Erika Kübler, the managers Gebhard and Lothar Kübler cut the bright red ribbon in front of the goods arrival ramps. 18 months elapsed since the first ideas and concepts of the building in the office of architect Vollack in Karlsruhe. They were followed, as from spring 2007, by a building phase of only 10 months. And two brand new factory floors appeared, which now accommodate the Research and Development department, the arrival of goods, several high-tech manufacturing lines, and the Dispatch department.

Space was created to allow for the extension and future growth of the company. Even though, during construction work, people had to cope with annoyances like dust and temporary arrangements, the result shows the validity of the whole project. Gebhard Kübler describes the general evolution: "It is impressive to see the fundamental change of our company in the last 10 years". A success which can easily be assessed: "We grew from a 7-million Euros to a 30- million Euros company. Nevertheless, the heart of our vision is and remains to exist as a family-owned company on the global market".

Kübler-Kaizen-Culture™. Innovation to the power of three thanks to a constantly experienced improvement.

Even though Kaizen - "small-step improvement" - and innovation - "the large completed novelty" - are often considered as contradictory, the contrary is true. This is the core of the message of the Kübler customer days. "When an innovation is supported by Kaizen, the innovation can not only be carried out reliably, but it can also, additionally, be improved further"; the company came to this essential conclusion after 5 years of continuous improvement. Kübler wants now to give a more efficient and wide foundation to its various improvement projects thanks to a "Kübler Kaizen culture™". A "Kaizen-Office", with presently one person and an external coach, highlights the seriousness of this company-wide undertaking. The teamwork with many other employees thus allows the implementation of a lasting Kaizen culture at Kübler. "Kaizen is not itself a project" explains the manager Gebhard Kübler, but a long-term task, "only this way will we be able to maintain long-term employment in Germany".

A workshop about Kaizen, which took place during the afternoon with coach Jürgen Braun of ProComet, the Kaizen responsible Frank Schad and the Management of the company showed the results Kübler achieved in the 5 last years, and the objectives the company is determined to reach in the future.
So, in the meantime, the suppliers were included in the company optimisations by means of the electronic Kanban, a very advanced logistics system, which adapts itself flexibly according exclusively to the requirements. Mario Börner, of the company Börner Drehteile GmbH, presented the point of view of the suppliers, describing his experience with Kübler and E-Kanban.

At Kübler, stickers with red arrows indicate the sectors where improvements are planned in the next weeks: here a possible failures source on a device, there a place without marking on a shelf or undefined tooling storage. "We definitely still have a long way to go but, according to Kaizen the way is also the objective" conclude Gebhard and Lothar Kübler, who are firmly convinced of the "return on the considerable investment". So the workshop reflected a mix of successful and of problematic Kaizen examples. It was followed by an animated discussion among the attendance - still entirely based on the practical implementation.

Relocation to our new building completed

Einzug Neubau

The new production building with 2,500 sqm of floor space on our company premises in Schwenningen was finished in time for the start of the new year.

We have thus increased the space previously available to us by more than a half. Space has primarily been created for the production and development departments.
The new building facilitates flexible production processes for innovative ideas, technologies and reliable products.

Minister President Oettinger visits Fritz Kübler GmbH

Ministerpräsident Oettinger besucht Fritz Kübler GmbH

On the 18th January 2007 the management and employees were pleased to receive a high-ranking visitor - the Head of Government in Baden Württemberg, Minister President Oettinger, toured the new production and development facilities (2500m²) at Kübler.

The extensions to the factory had been designed in association with building specialists from the Vollack company, based in Karlsruhe, and were moved into just a few days ago, after the new building had been constructed in only 8 months.

Managing Director Lothar Kübler welcomed the Minister President and showed him round the new building; they were accompanied amongst others by the Mayor of Villingen-Schwenningen Dr. Kubon and the Production Manager Andreas Happle. The Minister President was thus able to get an idea of the products and new manufacturing procedures at Kübler. He was visibly impressed that so many new modern jobs have been - and are still being - created for the future at Kübler. On behalf of the town of Villingen-Schwenningen, he praised the commitment of the management and staff. He highlighted especially the light, modern new premises, which gave a visible impression of the precision and reliability of our products. He was also particularly interested in the diverse applications for Kübler encoders, counters and other products.

There followed a talk, during which the shortage of skilled workers in the Villingen-Schwenningen region was on the agenda. Here the regional government is planning a number of initiatives to ease this difficult situation.

Kübler was delighted with this high-level visit, not least as it afforded the company the opportunity to demonstrate what it is achieving today and what it is confident of accomplishing in the future.

The Kübler Group welcomes its most recent members: Kuebler ( Beijing ) Automation Trading Co. Ltd. in Beijing, China and Kuebler Automation India Pvt Ltd in Pune, India - the formation formalities for both companies were completed in November 2007. Having a strong presence in two of Asias biggest growth markets is of key strategic importance to Kübler and will help secure the future of the company and its home base in Villingen-Schwenningen, Germany. However different reasons lie behind the founding of the two companies:

In the case of Kübler China we are talking of purely a Sales organisation - no production activity is planned. Over recent years the Chinese market has taken on increased global importance, which is why it has become essential for Kübler to have a direct presence in this market. The four sales offices in Shanghai, Tianjin, Chengdu and Wuhan that have been opened in addition to the head office in Beijing underline this approach.

In contrast to Kübler China, Kübler India will also assemble encoders. The goal in the first instance is to supply new local and international projects, which for various reasons - including the customs situation in India - could not previously be handled. The Indian market will continue to be serviced primarily by our distributor Rajdeep, with the support of Kübler India. We should like to welcome both new companies and our new colleagues in India and China into the Kübler Group!

Success requires Space - We are constructing a new building for you!

Kübler Headquarters in VS Schwenningen

We aim to be a flexible and reliable partner for you also in the future - this required space! A new building has just been constructed on our company site in Schwenningen: we now have 2500m² additional space at our disposal - this means we have expanded our current area by more than 50%; initially this is for our Production and R&D departments, who will find new room for reliable products, flexible processes as well as innovative ideas and technologies. Our new building, which we expect to move into at the end of 2007, has of course been designed according to the latest standards of facility planning - to make sure that we can meet the needs of the future and also create more jobs at our Schwenningen location.

21.09.2007, we celebrated the topping-out ceremony

24.04.2007, digging started

der Erste Spatenstich
der Erste Spatenstich 2

When digging started on the 24th April 2007, this heralded the start of the construction of a new production facility and development centre, in part on two levels, with a floor space of around 2500 m2. The new building will be connected to the existing one. This will ensure the building is fully accessible throughout, with integral utilisation for optimum process flows. Kübler aims to reduce its logistics costs considerably and so become more competitive at its Villingen-Schwenningen location.

According to the management, nearly all areas in the company will move and many processes and activities will be examined with regard to potential savings. The new building can be used flexibly and can be expanded over its whole length. The fundamentals for this project, as well as for the new structure of the company, are being worked on in a workshop with employees.

ntegrating the new structure into the existing one and the optimisation of the overall processes were an important premise for this project. This was achieved thanks to a methodical approach, in conjunction with the Vollack company from Karlsruhe. Vollack has the responsibility for the execution, detailed planning and implementation of this project. The new development will guarantee the viability of the Villingen-Schwenningen site and provide the space required for growth and additional jobs.
